My name is Jamie Nixon, born and raised in Henrico County just outside Richmond, Virginia. I’ve always been drawn to the arts, but photography became real for me in 2022 during a short trip to New York. A friend let me borrow their camera, and something clicked. I came home, bought my first point-and-shoot, and I’ve been shooting ever since.

I’m mostly monochrome by choice. It simplifies a moment and lets the emotion lead. At the same time, I shoot JPEG + RAW with every frame, so color is always there when it fits and always saved when you want it. The look can shift but the intent doesn’t — photographs that feel true, natural, and unforced.

When I’m working, I’m a fly on the wall. I’m there for the candid moments people don’t realize are happening — the quick glance, the belly laugh, the quiet in-between. I think most people carry more light than they give themselves credit for, and I’m always trying to capture that.

I’m based in Henrico and available to travel wherever for events, gatherings, portraits, and more. Whether you’re out of state, or down the street you can count me in. After we shoot, you can expect a quick turnaround, usually within 72 hours, so the memories still feel fresh.
